Job Description & Requirements

Linus Bike is looking for a capable, customer-focused Lead Service Technician to fill a position at our flagship showroom in Venice, CA. The job will be a full-time hourly position offering a great opportunity to work with one of the fastest growing city-centric cycling brands around.

We are a small team with a big mission: quality, elegant bicycles and accessories designed to transform the way people get around. We believe bicycles are the simple solution to big problems -- improving our quality of life, the environment, and enabling a more connected city experience. All applicants should be inspired by this mission and possess the below qualifications.

Experience working as a service technician in a bike shop environment is required (2+ years preferred). Supervisory experience is not required, however, qualified candidates should have the organizational and problem-solving skills necessary to succeed in a management-level role. Specific job tasks & technical expectations can be provided upon request.

We Are Looking For:

• A passion for the possibilities of cycling. Your care about building inclusive community within cycling and engaging new cyclists.

• Integrity and honesty in every interaction. When alone, you make the right decisions and are accountable to the results.

• Strong communication and organizational skills. You will directly participate in creating and enforcing policy and procedures.

• Ability to work within a team and to lead one. Along with your coworkers, you are part of a whole, and your daily conduct is mindful of others.

• Strong technical knowledge - no suspension overhauls here (yet!), but you will take the lead on resolving all service-related issues, ensuring 100% customer safety and satisfaction. If you don't have the answer, you will do the research to find out.

• Educational mindset with a sales background. You guide customers to the right product by asking questions to understand their needs. You're just as comfortable at the front door as at the workbench.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

• Familiarity with KPIs and other financial performance metrics.

• Proficiency with computer systems and some e-commerce. We use: Lightspeed POS, Shopify, & Office Suite, among others.

• Strong problem solving abilities. If there's no one around to ask, you will work hard to create a solution.

• Professional, reliable, and flexible. You are punctual, positive, and ready to adapt on the go.

• Must be able to safely & regularly lift 50 lbs. (You will assist in unloading shipments, moving bikes, and storing product.)

• Ability to work typical 40 hour week, including regular weekend and holiday shifts.

You Will:

• Lead by example with best-in-class customer service practices

• Perform the majority of all service work, including new bike builds, complete tune-ups, wheel builds, IGH overhauls, disc brake bleeds, and more

• Train other staff on service skills as required

• Manage service part inventory, including ordering and receiving (as needed), monitoring inventory levels, & optimizing parts selection for profit & quality

• Make yourself available on the sales floor for all transactions, including new bike purchases, accessories, and service work

• Monitor labor revenue, profit, and efficiency, planning and implementing improvements as needed

• Create and enforce service scheduling, procedures, and standards for all employees (in collaboration with Store Manager)

• Open and close the store, including cash handling, daily cleaning, and other day-to-day store maintenance

• Other tasks as required

Salary range is $17 to $19 per hour, depending on experience and other qualifications. Benefits include HMO Health and Dental, and 17 days paid leave. If you feel that you are our ideal candidate and are inspired by what we do, please send your resume and cover letter to jobs@linusbike.com and reference Service Lead in the subject. Resumes without cover letters will not be considered. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. People with backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in cycling are encouraged to apply.
