Product Designer

Responsibilities: 

• Execute assigned projects within 4-8 month timelines 

• Provide sketches, mock-ups when needed, design boards, and presentations to effectively communicate design ideas to internal audiences 

• Stay up to date with industry trends, and our social media community to help ensure we’re meeting our customers evolving needs 

• Assist with current product design changes where necessary in order to address in-line production issues 

• Provide detailed product initiations to Product Development Manager, including spec drawings, detailed measurements and construction guides, material and trim BOMs 

• Demonstrate an understanding of end-use, product line creation, and the specific markets in which Tourit does business 

• Contribute to cost analysis on new product designs 

• Assist PD Manager and Merchandising Team in developing a schedule for the flow of the product plan through all development stages, including commercialization 

• Degree in Product or Industrial Design- Other forms of Design degree can be accepted

• Minimum 6 years experience designing softgoods, bags, accessories 

• Hardgoods experience a plus 

• Sense of urgency in accomplishing tasks 

• Excellent planning, organizational, problem solving and decision making skills 

• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

• Strong working knowledge of function, production and sewing techniques to create tech packs are required.

• Strong understanding of fabrics and trims 

• Strong understanding of the Outdoors and “Urban” market 

• Strong costing and negotiation skills 

• Overseas communication and travel to manufacturing facilities experience 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills 

• Demonstrates proactive problem solving skills 

• Must be willing to adopt new ways of thinking
