GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The Staff Accountant will assist with and manage the day-to-day accounting responsibilities for DPS. The accountant is expected to accurately
manage and process the tactical accounting entries and reconciliations on a timely basis. This position also provides various support functions
to the sales operations and fulfillment teams, and general systems support.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS: Major Functions
• Prepare and record general journal entries as required
• Accurately create vendor bills in ERP system, make and record vendor payments on a timely basis (i.e. daily / weekly) balancing
cash flow of business with vendor payment terms.
• Create customer invoices, receive and apply payments on an accurate and timely basis (i.e. daily); Manage AR aging and be first
contact regarding collection efforts
• Track credit card payments, apply to invoices as orders ship, and generally assist with AR reconciliation
• Record and reconcile all activity in client’s bank accounts into the accounting system on a timely basis (i.e. daily)
• Work with Controller to maintain near-term (13 week) cash forecasts.
• Calculate quarterly Sales & Use tax liabilities, make and record tax payments, and file returns with appropriate state agencies
• Assist Controller as required with weekly reporting and month-end account reconciliations
• Assist the Controller with all monthly balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations
• Suggest and implement operational best practices within the accounting and operations departments
• Interface with outsourced payroll provider supplying necessary information for bi-weekly payroll.
• Handle basic HR duties including managing salary changes, interacting with benefit providers, and providing basic employee info to
new hires as needed.
• Assist with other departments and projects as needed.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Knowledge and understanding of the challenges and priorities of a young, entrepreneurial environment
• Experience managing Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll.
• Human Resources experience a plus.
• Working knowledge of accounting principles
• Familiarity with complex ERP-accounting system preferred (DPS uses IQMS)
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skill required (Bill.com and Expensify experience a plus)
• Ability to analyze existing operations and recommend and implement policies, procedures, and systems
• Impeccable communication and interpersonal skills
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Bachelor degree preferred.
PHYSICAL/TRAVEL DEMANDS
• Work occasional evening and weekends during periods of heavy workload or to meet deadlines
• Sit/stand and use a personal computer for long periods of time
• Lift boxes, binders and other materials up to 40 lbs.
• Limited travel may be required
