POSITION SUMMARY
We are currently seeking a Paint Supervisor. This position is directly responsible for all aspects of managing the Paint Department with a specific focus on safety, quality, and throughput. In addition to being an active painter in the Paint Department, this position will also oversee all day-to-day activities in the department. The supervisor is responsible for creating and promoting a performance-based culture using departmental metrics and daily production meetings.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Directs, coaches and motivates painters, as well as manages shop scheduling requirements and communicates daily/weekly performance metrics.
• Plans, schedules, coordinates and assigns work. Establishes goals and priorities for painters.
• Reviews production and resolves operational issues to prevent operational delays.
• Responsible for monitoring supplies and ordering needed supplies for the department to assure efficient operations and low cost.
• Responsible for establishing, implementing, and documenting training programs for all painters and painter assistant personnel.
• Develops and/or revises standard operational and working practices to ensure compliance with standards.
• Encourages subordinates to strive for operational excellence by continually challenging old methods or ways of thinking and taking responsible risks to maximize results; serves as a role model in innovative thinking and process improvement..
• Manages time appropriately so that production schedules are met.
• Interacts professionally with co-workers and vendors; understands internal customers; and strives to maintain good relations with others.
• Responds quickly to inquiries and follows up as needed.
• Embraces change to ensure overall success of the company
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES
• High school diploma or high school equivalency preferred.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in the application of organic coatings in an industrial manufacturing business is required.
• Must have strong management and leadership capabilities• Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean techniques preferred.
• Must have the knowledge to troubleshoot all types of paint equipment, paints and primers.
• Knowledge of industry-based standards and specifications preferred.
• Knowledge of Organic Coating Technical Data Sheets required.
• Computer experience, including Microsoft Office products preferred.
• Experience writing procedures and work instructions.
• Ability to troubleshoot and correct problems required.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment is required.
