Kathmandu has joined forces with Oboz, a wholesale footwear brand founded in Bozeman, Montana. Together Oboz and Kathmandu are working to bring Kathmandu North America to the wholesale market. Kathmandu has also recently acquired the internationally recognized surf brand, Rip Curl creating a true global brand from Mountain to Sea.

Position Overview

This is a key greenfield role within the Kathmandu North America team assisting with driving sales and marketing initiatives in order to build brand awareness and increase market presence.

You have key responsibility to organize and coordinate seasonal information to Kathmandu?s North American independent sales teams including product and delivery updates; to plan local and national trade shows and biannual sales meetings, helping to develop and support sell in and sell through with product and marketing initiatives. Ownership and implementation of the sales / marketing calendar, and responsibility for sales analytics, forecasting and ensuring appropriate levels of product inventory is maintained also fall under this position.

Accountabilities

Core Functions - Sales:

  • Organize and manage the participation in all industry trade events including booking travel, registrations and appointments.
  • = Orchestrate shipment of all goods and display materials to tradeshow sites and coordinate booth set up and take-down.
  • Produce and distribute all seasonal relevant sell in materials to include order forms, price lists, POP materials, style master and maintain an organised library of sales materials.
  • Direct the movement and distribution of product samples between sales reps and Kathmandu New Zealand. Ensure effective and timely communication with key retailers and sales reps.
  • Maintain dealer records and agreements and aid in the set up all new accounts.
  • Prepare sales analysis as needed that monitors results and provides recommendations based on trends.
  • Collate and analyse all information supplied by the Christchurch and Melbourne teams to build seasonally appropriate forecasts.

Core Functions - Marketing:

  • Co-create and manage the sales and marketing calendar.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of promotional activities including retailer launch plans, in season promotions, social media promotions.
  • Monitor retailers web sites looking for accuracy in product descriptions, pricing, and branding.
  • Assist retailers procure POP materials.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining Kathmandu North America?s social media presence.
  • Develop relationships with media, event management, PR firms, and other relevant parties.
  • Assist with market research to improve brand positioning and build brand awareness.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor?s Degree in business, marketing or other related field. Minimum of 2 years work experience in a sales/marketing or related role in a product producing organisation preferably in the outdoor industry.
  2. Strong ability to listen and execute, very detail oriented and able to deal with multiple projects in a given timeframe.
  3. Understanding of retail math and pricing strategies and experience using ERP systems.
  4. Strong excel acumen.
  5. Must hold an international passport as travel will be involved.
  6. Approximately 2 international trips per year and 6 domestic.
