Marketing and Public Relations Specialist

ALE is seeking a Marketing and Public Relations Specialist to oversee day-to-day account activities, provide strategic direction and support business development efforts. In this role, the qualified individual will work closely with ALE's Partners to strategize, develop and produce compelling and authentic brand, marketing, advertising and PR campaigns for guests.

The candidate must have exceptional organizational and communication skills with a strong understanding of an agency environment and workflow. Areas of work may include: branding, research/strategy, strategic communications, marketing, public relations, campaign development, crisis management, event management, project management and business development cultivation

Key activities:

  • Develop marketing and merchandising strategies to support ALE brand and sales
  • Maintain brand identity and principles
  • Online marketing initiatives
  • Ensure all ALE marketing material, website, newsletter and social media are up-to-date
  • Analysis
  • Create and manage budgets
  • Visual merchandising and display
  • Copy development
  • Work with a range of creative partners and outside vendors such as designers, writers and agencies
  • Manage activities with marketing and press communication
  • Assess and select strategic opportunities and partnerships
  • Maintain records of sales figures and results of marketing initiatives
  • Meet potential and existing Guests, Expeditions, Agents and Guide Companies
  • Provide phone coverage in the office when needed
  • Set-up contractual relationships with new agents and guide companies
  • Follow-up with guests, agents/guide companies after the season ends to receive feed back.
  • Coordinate all aspects of and attend marketing shows

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 2-3 years previous marketing/strategy experience in tourism preferable
  • Ability to manage processes from strategy through implementation
  • Strategic thinker who blends strong analytics and creativity
  • Experience with brand building, creative development and public relations
  • Excellent writing and communications skills
  • Strong aesthetic and attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and a can-do attitude
  • Problem solving and entrepreneurial in nature
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

  • High energy, high capacity
  • Internet savvy. Experience using MS Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Previous experience in database entry and manipulation
  • Valid passport & drivers license. Willing and able to travel
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's degree or equivalent accredited qualification in marketing/business or tourism

About Antarctic Logistics & Expeditions

Antarctic Logistics and Expeditions (ALE) is the most experienced deep-field operator in Antarctica, providing a wide range of guided experiences, air support, logistical back-up and safety cover for governmental research programs, independent expeditions, and tourists. ALE is a US company with a year-round office in Salt Lake City, Utah and seasonal operations support office in Punta Arenas, Chile. We operate a large field camp at Union Glacier, Antarctica, during the austral summer, from early November to the end of January.  This camp can accommodate up to 100 guests in additional to ALE staff.  We also have several other satellite camps in Antarctica.
