Director of eCommerce

The Simms organization is growing and we’re looking to fill the Director of eCommerce position. This is a full-time, in-house position based in Bozeman, Montana. This position reports to our Chief Marketing Officer.

As a key driver of the global Simms DTC business, the Director of eCommerce will be responsible for setting and achieving both top line and bottom line revenue objectives, while delivering the best possible brand experience to new and existing users.

Some of the key components of the role include:

Team Leadership: Building and managing the eCommerce team, which will include IT, UX, customer service, eCommerce marketing, merchandising, analytics, CRM, exclusive product development, and general operation. Work closely with the brand marketing team to achieve sales and brand building goals in support of an omni-channel approach. 

Strategy: Set overall strategy and roadmap for the user experience on Simmsfishing.com (browser and mobile) that blends great content with efficient commerce and positions Simms as the first and best source for authentic Simms product and experiences. Work with US wholesale channel and INTL regions as needed to build omni-channel approach to the global marketplace.

Subject Matter: Bring thought leadership to Simms around innovative online shopping experiences and help evangelize the holistic digital opportunity across the organization. Guide creative team and merchandising team in developing strategies and tactics around content.

Marketing: Lead internal eCommerce marketing team and external agency teams in developing and optimizing a multi-channel mid/bottom funnel marketing program that includes SEM, direct mail, display, etc. Work closely with the brand marketing team to take a holistic, full-funnel approach to both brand building and product marketing.

Site Optimization: Work closely with analytics team to test new enhancements and adjust strategies to optimize customer experience and business results. Understand and implement SEO best practices. Monitor site performance to identify issues and bring to resolution.

Ongoing Enhancements: Identify and prioritize site bugs, enhancements and other optimizations. Manage site enhancement roadmap. Identify 3rd party solutions to provide needed site functionality. Lead the continued refinement and optimization of User Experience.

Site Refreshes: Partner with marketing and merchandising teams to deliver a compelling customer experience. Oversee the deployment of new site content and ensure quality and performance levels meet standards. Lead site platform upgrades and re-platforming and redesign projects.

Resource Management: Manage internal, contract and external technology and agency resources to deliver ongoing creative and technology services that drive support and enhancements of our site experiences

Financial Management: Manage the eCommerce P&L against both topline and bottom line targets.

We are looking for a candidate with 7 years past experience running an e-Commerce business or department.

This person should have demonstrated success at the following:

• Defining the role of eCommerce/DTC within the overall organization, considering the importance of short-term revenue generation and long-term brand building, within the context of an omni-channel business and interacting with other divisions to secure needed resources and relationships.

• Building and developing an eCommerce team.

• Developing and executing an eCommerce marketing strategy, encompassing social, online marketing, SEO, SEM, etc., that drive site traffic and achieves desired KPIs.

• Managing an eCommerce P&L to achieve top line and bottom line goals as set in conjunction with the management team.
