Job Description & Requirements

The North American Controller ensures the accuracy of all financial information related to the Company's subsidiaries located in North America. This includes the daily oversight of the accounting and finance operations of the North American subsidiaries.

Essential Functions:

  1. Responsible and authorized to prepare monthly consolidated North American financial statements and various reports, such as monthly sales report, monthly reporting for US entities, executive summary of departmental expenses, and any additional ad hoc reporting as required.
  2. Responsible for the overall integrity of the financial statements and general ledgers for all North American entities.
  3. Responsible on a monthly basis to analyze and explain significant variances (actual vs. budget and actual vs. prior year) within the North American income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows and to communicate this analysis within the monthly reporting package delivered to the VP of Finance Operations and Corporate Controller.
  4. Analyze North American financial information for management and to disseminate this information to the required individuals in a professional and confidential (if required) manner.
  5. Establish entity-wide policies and procedures, which have a direct effect on the North American entities' financial statements.
  6. Responsible for the supervision of all North American accounting functions.
  7. Indirectly responsible for others within the North American Finance department with regards to their interactions with the general ledger and entity financials.
  8. Under the direction of the Corporate Controller, responsible and authorized to develop, implement, and monitor accounting controls for all North American entities, in accordance with SOX requirements.
  9. As it relates to the Company's North American entities, responsible and authorized to coordinate activities of various auditors and prepare all requested documentation.
  10. Responsible to analyze new and complex accounting transactions, to determine proper accounting treatment, and to propose such treatment to the Corporate Controller for sign-off.
  11. Responsible and authorized to coordinate bank interactions with regards to daily transactions, banking products and bank accounts for all North American entities.
  12. As it relates to contracts held by the North American entities, and as directed by the Corporate Controller, responsible and authorized to settle the Company's foreign currency contracts in accordance with contact terms with lending institutions.
  13. Responsible to forecast cash requirements and line of credit availability for North American entities.
  14. Responsible to assist in projecting future financial information (budgeting) for the North American entities.
  15. Assist Director of Tax in preparation of income tax work-papers and other required documentation.
  16. Prepare and timely file numerous State and Governmental Agencies Annual Reports and Returns.
  17. Assist HR with processing bi-weekly payroll; submission of payroll taxes and reviewing quarterly payroll filings for the Federal Government and numerous State Governments.

Education:

  • Required: BS in Accounting
  • Preferred: MAcc or MBA

Work experience:

  • Required: 3 yrs public accounting or equivalent industry experience.
  • Preferred: Experience in a manufacturing environment.

Skills and general experience:

  • All general ledger accounting, special accounting and taxation, attention to detail, organizational skills, and written and verbal communication skills in order to communicate with the key internal and external customers listed above. Knowledge of computerized accounting, payable, receivable, and costing system is required.
  • Required License(s): CPA
