Digital Fundraising and Advocacy Director

Access Fund is seeking a full-time Digital Marketing and Advocacy Director to oversee our growing membership program. The right candidate will be an experienced, data-driven performance marketer, and will work in collaboration with internal Marketing, Development, and Programs teams to develop and manage innovative and engaging digital advocacy and fundraising campaigns. This position will be responsible for activating advocacy campaigns, recruiting new membership leads, converting prospects, cultivating and retaining existing members as well as upgrading members into higher giving levels.

This role also works in close collaboration with our Operations and Technology team to set strategy for the technology platforms and integrations that enable a high performing marketing program. The Digital Marketing and Advocacy Director manages the Membership Marketing Manager as a direct report, and manages the membership fulfillment and support work products of the Membership & Office Coordinator.. 

Access Fund has been based in Boulder, CO since 1991.  Approximately half of our staff are spread across the country. The other half are located in the Denver-Boulder metro area and are currently working remotely due to the coronavirus pandemic. 



Responsibilities

  • Oversee the strategy, budgeting, day-to-day management, and revenue targets for Access Fund’s dynamic membership program. This includes oversight of the entire membership engagement funnel, from lead generation, to lead nurture, conversion, retention, and upsell. 

  • Design and implement lead generation campaigns and nurture strategies to build Access Fund’s membership funnel and convert climbers into Access Fund members and advocates. 

  • Manage the membership journey and experience, including segmentation and campaign exposure, membership/donation forms, membership benefits, automated emails, inventory and fulfillment of membership materials, renewal emails, direct mail letters, etc. 

  • Manage the organization’s digital strategy with an eye toward optimizing advocacy and fundraising ROI. You will lead channel execution for email, organic social, paid ads, paid search, organic search, and content optimizations. Oversee testing strategies to improve results across digital channels.

  • Work closely with the Marketing & Communications Director to develop multichannel campaigns that increase brand awareness and facilitate lead generation and advocacy activities. 

  • Work closely with the Development Team to support Events, Corporate Partnership, Gym Membership, and Major Gifts functions with a goal of maximizing philanthropic revenue to the organization. 

  • Work closely with the Programs Team to find innovative ways to grow online advocacy, helping our members activate their voices for the protection of America’s climbing—and sync those advocacy campaigns into the membership engagement funnel. 

  • Utilize leading-edge data analytics and predictive modeling techniques to grow the member base, member value, member engagement, and net revenue. Develop marketing attribution reports and dashboards to show KPIs, ROI, and revenue against annual goals.

  • Work closely with Data Systems & Tech Analyst to ensure the health, data integrity, and integration of the technology systems needed to run a sophisticated performance marketing program. This includes email marketing platform, CRM, and advocacy software.

  • Act as manager and mentor to the Membership Marketing Manager and oversee the membership fulfillment and support portion of the Membership Coordinator & Office Manager’s work. 

  • Provide regular, quarterly reports on the health and growth of the membership program to the Leadership Team and the Board of Directors.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree or combination of equivalent experience

  • 5-7 years of demonstrated effectiveness in performance marketing. Must have a proven track record managing digital marketing for a growing organization.

  • Salesforce experience required. Strong experience with current digital concepts, strategy, and marketing automation software and CRMs. 

  • Must have experience in email segmentation and automation, paid ads, website and landing page design in a CMS, organic social, SEO/SEM, and the measurement, metrics, and ROI of digital programs. 

  • Experience managing a brand across diverse digital channels and large audiences.

  • Demonstrated aptitude in planning, time management, project management, and budget management.

  • A collaborative attitude and commitment to the success of the broader team and organizational goals.

  • Understanding of technical climbing and passion for the mission of protecting America’s climbing areas. 

  • Commitment to JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) principles and experience applying JEDI principles to external marketing.

Physical Environment/Physical Requirements:

Typical office environment involving working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. The Boulder, CO office is located on the second floor of a building accessed by stairs.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 DOE
