Category Managers have the responsibility for developing strategy and driving commercialization for our brands and products within each segment of our business, such as Rods, Reels, Line, or Bait.

This role will own:

  • =         Category strategy for the designated segment of our business across all channels

o   Define voice and positioning

o   Short-term business needs

o   3- to 5-year innovation planning

o   Promotional and merchandising planning

  • =         P&L management for the category
  • =         Product life cycle management for new and existing products
  • =         New Product Development (Identification and cross-functional execution)
  • =         Special Make Up (SMU) planning across channels
  • =         Pricing strategies and recommendations
  • =         Marketing Planning and Execution with cross functional teams including:

o   Annual marketing plans and budgeting recommendations

o   Ability to brief and interpret consumer research to identify needs and messaging

o   Ability to brief and critique creative to deliver on consumer messages

o   New product launch plans and execution

  • =         Licensing agreements, to include management, negotiation, etc.          

Successful candidates will have:

  • =         Passion; for brands, for creativity, for the outdoors (in particular, fishing)
  • =         Demonstrated successful experience in growing brands
  • =         Experience managing multiple brands
  • =         Ability to communicate the vision and bring projects/initiatives to life
  • =         Understanding of customer needs and consumer voice; utilizes insights to help guide strategy, product, and brand development
  • =         Strong licensing knowledge and experience managing multiple agreements
  • =         Keen financial and business acumen
  • =         Familiarity with working in cross-functional teams
  • =         Work experience in fishing industry (ideal) or outdoor space (preferred)
