Job Description & Requirements

The Shop Associate position is a hybrid position splitting responsibilities throughout all facets of the organization. This is a “jack of all trades” entry level role. This role will initially start in our Littleton store, but will transition into our new store in Denver opening this Summer. The Shop Associate will split their time in the following way: 


  • 40% Retail Sales & Customer Service

  • 40% Bicycle Service & Maintenance

  • 20% Job Training & Mentorship


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute in multiple roles including outreach, sales and repairs

  • Staff local events promoting business

  • Maintain high level sales ability

  • Remain up-to-date on current product offerings

  • Foster growth of “community” in retail facility

  • Provide exemplary customer service including the handling of customer complaints if/when they arise

  • Promote open communication between sales, non-profit and service departments

  • Maintain a fun and positive environment for customers and employees

  • Provide an atmosphere with a high degree of cleanliness and organization throughout the store

  • Check work email and respond at the beginning and end of every shift

  • Build new retail bikes

  • Intake customer bikes for service

  • Perform maintenance & repairs on traditional & electric bikes

  • Maintain rental fleet, including rental accessories (helmets, locks, etc.)

  • Maintain an organized and professional work space

  • Provide assistance with job training efforts of Interns

  • Assist in creation and execution of team building events for interns

  • Participate in field trips for interns to local businesses

  • Mentor 1 intern per training cohort


Education/Experience: 

  • Experience working with / around young adults from trauma

  • Experience providing customer service in person, over the phone, and via email

  • Bicycle mechanic experience - PLUS

  • Retail sales experience - PLUS

  • Cycling enthusiast - PLUS

Physical Demands:

GoodTurn Cycles is a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated helping people achieve better health and providing job training to young people. Our shop specializes in sales, rentals and tours of electric bicycles (e-bikes), and repairs for all bikes.

 

GoodTurn Cycles is home to a job training program for young people with barriers to employment. Our paid internship program takes our interns through a bicycle mechanics, customer service and mentorship curriculum in which we develop transferrable basic employability skills. Although we have dedicated staff to perform the training, all employees have the opportunity to have a positive impact on our interns through mentor engagement and supplementary training.
