About the Job:
The Senior Product Development Engineer is a core member of our Product Development team. This position plays a vital role in solving customer problems by researching technical options and designing new products and product improvements that push the envelope of what’s possible for the best product performance and user experience.
Reports To:
Director of Product Development
Principal Duties:
- Brainstorm potential solutions for customer problems based on insights
- Collaborate with team members on suggested technical approaches for projects
- Manage large scale projects and programs
- Mentor other engineers through sharing of experience
- Responsible for form, fit, and function of designs and their cost breakdowns
- Design, build, and test prototypes
- Design, develop, and utilize test methods to qualify products for customer use
- Provide manufacturing and production support for new products and continuous improvement of existing products
- Manage technical documentation of key project decisions and design changes
- Integrate with marketing teams to support tasks such as: Product performance testing, marketing claims, packaging, and literature
Required Skills, Knowledge,
Education, and Training:
- B.S. or higher in Engineering/Design or equivalent work experience
- Broad and extensive experience in various manufacturing disciplines
- Solid experience with 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor a plus)
- 5-7 years’ experience on a consumer product engineering team, with a focus on quality, reliability, and commercialization
- Heavy project management experience required
- Extensive experience with supplier management
- Effective organization and communication skills and superior attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and in team environments
- Experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Mathematical skills (calculations, analysis, spreadsheets)
- FMEA, DFSS, and lean manufacturing experience a plus
