Job Description & Requirements
WalkAbout is looking for a talented and collaborative person who is passionate about the outdoors. We are looking for someone to create, plan, and implement outdoor events (such as: weekly paddles and hikes, on water demos, etc) and cultivate our brand awareness. The store manager will also oversee the daily operations of the store, including staffing. The candidate must be energetic, well organized, and possess great leadership skills.
Responsibilities:
- Propose innovative ideas to enhance the customer experience.
- Help establish the store as the ultimate resource for the outdoor experience.
- Develop and execute community events to meet customer needs and advance our brand.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, including scheduling, hiring, and training team members.
- Build relationships with coworkers, customers, and community through teamwork and positive attitude.
- Manage and oversee social media platforms.
- Oversee merchandising to maximize our brand story and incorporate seasonal trends and special themes.
Qualifications:
- Be passionate about the outdoors.
- Prior retail customer service experience in the outdoor industry.
- Prior leadership/supervisory/management experience in outdoor is preferred.
- Exceptional work ethic, with passion to succeed and take initiative.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Be welcoming, positive, engaging, and friendly to customers and team members.
- Able to work a flexible schedule. Weekends, evenings, and some holidays required.
- Able to stand be active for extended periods of time.
- Passion and experience for outdoor recreation.
- Merchandising skills and/or experience (preferred, not required).
