Job Description & Requirements
Join our team as a Communications Manager based out of the Madison, WI Pacific Cycle corporate headquarters. Because where else can you play with toys all day?
We are looking for a passionate individual to represent Pacific Cycle as a brand advocate. In this role, you will develop and manage the brand, product, and company communications for Pacific Cycle to drive awareness, brand affinity, and sales. Every day, your focus will revolve around creating and managing media and influencer relationships, communications for PCG brands including product launches, promotions, brand and athlete engagements, and brand partnerships.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing agency partnerships, writing communications and reporting results to key stakeholders including leadership, and have owned industry partnerships previously. Some (but not all) of the key responsibilities are listed below:
- = Develop and execute an annual communications strategy and calendar for the brands that elevate awareness, engage the consumer, and drive sell-through
- = Develop a complete understanding of our products and markets served to establish the organization as an industry expert
- = Identify and capitalize on opportunities to promote and positively represent the organization through internal and external communication
- = Seek new methods and creative strategies to increase internal and external awareness for the launch of new products, brand activations, and organizational initiatives
- = Establish relationships with key trade associations including PeopleForBikes, Wisconsin Bike Fed, Toy Association, and USA BMX attending and participating in select meetings
- = Lead the creation of all internal and external PR materials, resources, training, and guides
- = Develop and distribute all brand communications to the media; establish and manage relationships with members of the media and key influencers
- = Provide key in-house support, training, etc. to product managers, supported athletes, and others for PR needs
- = Ensure all communication activities align with the brand guidelines
- = Identify, vet, and manage external PR agency relationships
- = Vet and manage all ad hoc media requests and partnership opportunities; identify and manage any unique communications opportunities
- = Identify, manage and attend PR events throughout the US

Education & Experience Requirements
- = Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or a related field
- = 5-7 years of experience in communications
- = Demonstrated ability to prepare and present clear, concise, grammatically correct verbal and written information
- = Demonstrated ability to edit other’s work
- = Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects at once and manage tight deadlines
- = High degree of professionalism and diplomacy in dealings with outside media contacts and internal departments
- = Enthusiastic with a high sense of urgency
- = Experience preparing communication plans and strategy
- = High commitment and orientation to teamwork
- = Excellent decision-making skills with media placement and utilization
- = Experience in the bicycle and/or sporting goods industry; willing to ride various types of bicycles
- = Experience in a multi-brand and multi-product line environment
- = Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- = Experience training others in media/on-camera management
