WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
As our Lead Apparel Application Design and Developer, you will create the future of bonded performance apparel through innovative aesthetic and application execution. You will be expected to bring to life seasonal creative direction by successfully marrying Bemis product and application innovations that are fueled by consumer insights and product line strategies. The candidate needs to have passion for innovation, performance apparel and hands-on problem solving. You will need strong communication skills with teammates across the organization, including expert listening, collaborative problem solving and deep emotional intelligence. This role demands big picture thinking, with regards to product relevance, product positioning, timing and collections. We’re looking for a candidate who’s curious, inquisitive and motivated to discover new methods of make. You will need to consistently demonstrate process proficiency through best practices, visualization and communication of ideas.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON:
If this is you, you will be working with the Global Design & Applications team to create original product solutions and applications to generate business with the World’s leading performance apparel brands. You will be able to execute all product application from initial stages of R&D, prototyping, construction build through final concept. You will need to communicate across functions such as Product Development, Marketing and Sales. At times you will present internally and externally producing presentation materials that optimally communicate the strategies behind the concepts. This role will require you to build awareness of current trends, identified market and product opportunities through market research to stay ahead of consumer needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
§ Design seasonal and multi-year apparel application solutions that target financial goals and performance criteria as defined in the brief and directed by the Strategic Design Manager
§ Successfully lead complex projects from conceptual start to final design delivery with passion and ownership
§ Ideate on identified product opportunities and strategies through R&D, sketching and or physical prototyping
§ Translate macro ideas into storytelling that delivers relevant commercial concepts that can impact the bottom line and inspire customers
§ Collaborate with key brand customers to bring their ideas to life through consultation, prototyping, education and hands on working sessions
§ Use of empathy and non-linear thinking: we would like for you to be able to see the consumer as a person and ideate solutions with the consumer in mind
§ Refine Brand Customer concept direction and complete design hand-offs following ‘Brand’ specification standards
§ Partner with global manufacturing team members to apply working knowledge of factory production requirements as it relates to feasibility, scalability, costing and performance of bonded designs
Experience:
§ Bachelor’s degree in design or related field; fashion design, product design, industrial design, textile design required or 2+ years of additional professional design experience In lieu of a degree.
§ 3+ years of relevant apparel or product design experience.
§ Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
§ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
§ Ability to translate consumer insights to narratives and product application executions
§ Working knowledge and understanding of apparel construction
§ Basic knowledge of the apparel industry, marketing principles and development process
§ Experience working and communicating directly with manufacturing partners to ensure accuracy of design intent, a plus
