Reports to: Director of Product & Merchandising

Fenix Outdoor is looking to add a talented and experienced Direct-To-User (DTU) Merchandise Manager to oversee and manage the buying, planning, merchandising, and allocations for the Ecommerce and Brick and Mortar business for Fenix Outdoor brands (Fjallraven, Hanwag, Royal Robbins, Brunton, and Primus). This role manages the North American Retail Buying & Allocations team and is directly responsible for the buying and planning of the North American Ecommerce business. The role is an integral part in the merchandise planning and strategies for DTU and is responsible for creating and presenting budgets/strategies for approval for seasonal buys. The role must also work closely with the Marketing team on brand agendas, seasonal launches, key stories, seasonal imagery, and all product-focused initiatives. The DTU Merchandise Manager works directly with the Product & Merchandising team to inform product needs and trends in the DTU channels.

 Manager Responsibilities:

·        Oversee all buying and planning for N. American DTU channels (Brick & Mortar & Ecommerce)

·        Manage DTU buying and allocations team for N. America

·        Manage merchandise assortments that meet sales budgets and showcase the brand and culture of the company in DTU channels

·        Ensure on-time and seamless seasonal product launches and rollouts for DTU channels

·        Work cross-departmentally with Marketing, Retail, Ecom, and Operations teams to ensure the unity of marketing and in-store initiatives are aligned and launched effectively and on-time

·        Oversee and ensure all DTU product initiatives are executed well and on-time

·        Collaborate with N. American merchandising team to ensure product needs are met and assortment gaps in N. American line are addressed to create a complete assortment

·        Create, present, and gain approval on buy budgets from stakeholder executives

·        Present DTU product analyses and reports to all key stakeholders on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis

·        Oversee publication of retail reporting suite and ensure strict and consistent timing and accuracy

·        Manage DTU product lifecycle from purchase, to allocation, to in-season, to outlet sell-out strategy

·        Analyze DTU business and identify opportunities to apply to buying, planning, merchandising strategies

·        Create on-brand sales and effective promotions strategies while maintaining brand integrity and margin expectations

·        All other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

·        This role supervises and manages the DTU Buying and Allocations/Replenishment team


·        Bachelor’s degree in business management, operations, merchandising, or related field or equivalent, relevant experience

·        5+ years of experience in DTU buying/planning/allocations

·        Strong aptitude in Excel required

·        Thorough understanding of reporting and retail math and their application to DTU business

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·        Must have market knowledge and intuition for trends and market behaviors

·        Willingness to be adaptable and maintain an approach that supports the DTU business

·        Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
