Growing climbing company in Coastal Virginia seeks to hire an outgoing GM to oversee 2 current facilities, with opportunity for expansion for the third facility, expected late 2022.
Latitude Climbing + Fitness is looking for an outgoing and energetic individual with a strong work ethic to join our team as a General Manager. As part of the management team you will schedule and manage the gym’s staff, strategize to create and achieve goals, oversee the fast-paced daily operations of the facilities, and create a positive climbing environment for members and guests alike. As the General Manager, you will lead by example and make sure staff are up to date on training in order to best educate customers on gym policies, programs, gym safety and always uphold the mission of Latitude, which is to Build Climbers! The General Manager position is a leadership role responsible for overseeing all staff and daily operations, as well as safety/risk management.
Reports to: President and owners.
Direct Reports: oversees Chief Culture Officer, Facility managers, route setters, shift leaders, and front line staff.
Lead by example to provide excellent customer service for all climbers regardless of experience, and be the point of contact for all unique events and membership change request inquiries.
Coordinate with the hiring manager in recruiting, training, and disciplining staff as needed.
Identify continued education opportunities for all staff in customer service, sales, and risk mitigation.
Work with the rest of the facility management team to coordinate staff climbing nights, seasonal events, and brainstorm other opportunities to maintain high staff morale.
Create quarterly plans for local community and member events.
Perform all administrative and general duties associated with running the gym including but not limited to opening and closing, inventory management, POS transactions, program scheduling, and managing guest flow for first time customers, members, and events.
Maintaining and encouraging a strong climbing community between staff, members, and guests at all times.
-Prior managerial experience in the climbing industry, or retail, hospitality, or fitness customer service.
-Strong leadership skills.
-Must be able to work some nights and weekends.
-Be self motivated.
-Be able to work in a fast paced environment.
