Seeking an experienced mechanic to work at Affordabike Bicycle Shop in Charleston, SC.The mechanic should be proficient in the following
-hydraulic disc bleeds
-wheel building
-tubeless set up
-suspension maintenance/rebuild
-internal routing
-tuning of most brakes and derailleuers
Charleston, SC is a beautiful place to live and ride bikes. The area is completely flat and the weather is mild making year-round bike commuting very compelling. The shop is in the middle of downtown.
We are heavily involved in the broader cycling community by hosting road, mountain, and slow rides. We host monthly maintenance clinics. We sponsor local mountain bike, gravel, and triathlon races and we host our own off-road bike series.
We have 2 in-house brands of bicycles that we design and produce. Bilda Bike custom bicycles and Coast Cycles complete bikes. We sell several thousand of these bikes locally every year. The entire staff takes part in the design of these bikes. We get feedback from customers, sales staff, and mechanics about progressing trends, target price points, problems from previous seasons, and use that feedback to produce the best possible bikes for our market. Every year our shop rents a cabin in Brevard, NC for a month for employees to enjoy with friends or significant others to ride, relax, and enjoy the scenery. Brevard is one of the premier mountain bike destinations on the East Coast, attracting riders from out west when it gets too wet to ride. Brevard is also home of the East Coast Oskar Blues Brewery.
We have sent our mechanics to many training schools in the past including Sram road, Sram mountain, Cannondale dealer camp, Norco dealer camp, GURU fit school, and QBP Saddle Drive.
