Kōkatat is a Native American word meaning “Into the water.” We design and manufacture clothing for people who play and work on the water. In 1971 Kokatat began making paddle sports apparel and gear in Arcata, CA. Our founder and president, Steve O’Meara, recognized from the start that keeping production local was necessary in order to control quality and continually develop the finest and driest paddling apparel in the world. Our products are made for kayaking, canoeing, rafting, sea kayaking, sailing and most other human-powered water sports. In addition, we manufacture protective wear for our Local, State, and Federal Government agencies for rescue, safety, and military needs. Our products are sold by hundreds of retail stores in the U.S., Canada, Japan, and Europe.
