The PLM for the Climbing category at Black Diamond Equipment works  closely with the Category Director to research, analyze and formally  report on industry, competitor and customer use trends and influences to  help develop a product line strategy for our climbing category.  Responsible for line plan maintenance, product brief creation, being an  active member of the design teams, and communicating key product  information for workbook, catalog, web and packaging needs with the  Marketing department.The PLM for Climb must have a delicate balance  of business savvy, market understanding and functional expertise in  climbing on rock and ice. You are an active climber with a keen  understanding of the sport and will be tasked with:  

1. Supporting the Climb Category Director in all aspects of Product Line Management for both new and in-line products working in conjunction with and consistent with the Category Director's vision, and strategic direction and help implement the tactics and product development that support those initiatives and strategies.
2. Researching, developing, executing, and managing aspects of Product Line Planning relative to both domestic and international Product Line goals for the climb category. You will conduct presentations of product line strategies as needed to Sales Reps and selected OEM customers.
3. Communicating product strategy and information as necessary to Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Design and Development teams; conducting on and off-site product and product line presentations to communicate the same to selected OEM, Key Retail domestic & international customers.
4. Obtaining and providing initial forecasts for products, assisting in the creation of spare parts lists and forecasts for life of product & warranty period, coordinating product launch dates and phase out of declining product and efficient SKU management with Supply Chain, Sales and Marketing.
5. Providing research and supporting in developing product briefs, and communicating details and objectives as necessary to design and development teams and sales and marketing.
6. Reviewing and evaluating costing/margin/retail objectives at various stages of development to ensure targets are met.

Education & Work Experience:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Engineering or related field and 3 years post graduate experience in product line management is required.
• You get extra points if you bring 5 years of experience in climbing product design or development or 5+ years experience in outdoor recreational product line management.

Skills and general experience:

• You must possess an in-depth knowledge of the climbing category's sport and products, industry and culture, customers, trends and competitors and be an active climber with experience with Excel, Power Point, Internet and familiarity with product design and development processes required.

Required licenses:

• Driver's License, Passport.
