Position: Engineering Manager

Reports to: Director of Engineering
General Summary:
The Engineering Manager is directly responsible for the organization and oversight of the
engineering team of 10+. A strong background in both team management and engineering
fundamentals are critical as this person is responsible for engineering staff development as well as
top level project management. The engineering manager will be growing and streamlining the
department from both a personnel and process standpoint defining and reporting clear
measurements of productivity. This individual must execute multiple concurrent engineering
projects within defined timelines, allocating appropriate resources accordingly. The Engineering
Manager also works with the Director of Engineering to the quarterly / annual budget.
Essential Job Functions:
· Establish the department organization structure to optimize efficiencies and throughput given a diverse set of projects run in parallel
o Maintain process and design language consistency
· Re-structure the department organization to include position ‘levels’ and re-define job descriptions accordingly
· Define and implement a department and cross-department RACI matrix
· Determine staffing levels and conduct new hiring / development of engineering personnel
· Evaluate employee performance and promote career growth, define KPIs and make recommendations to management regarding promotions and compensation increases
o At a set cadence
§ Meet individually with each team member
§ Perform employee performance evaluations
· Set management productivity goals and KPIs and establish procedures to meet/exceed them
· Liaise with other department managers to implement company objectives
· Run weekly cross-department engineering meetings
· Track, monitor and execute multiple projects run in parallel
o Develop project schedules and critical milestones reacting accordingly to meet defined timelines
o Define, formalize, and implement project workflow procedures/processes and documentation capturing institutional knowledge and increasing efficiency
o Communicate with manufactures/suppliers (on and offshore)
o Determine the best tool(s) to execute the above
· Organize and maintain the departments digital documentation and file structure
· Track quarterly/annual engineering budget and report to the Director of Engineering
· Ensure all Health and Safety protocols are established and met
Job Qualifications, Competencies and Key Attributes:
· Personable, approachable, ability to coach/guide/lead and maintain moral of a large team
· Dedicated, detailed, organized, thorough, hard working
· Drive/desire to make the best product
· Excellent communication skills and ability the present information clearly and visually
· 3+ years management experience ideally with a background in product design/manufacturing
· Experience with writing/conducting performance evaluations
· Ability to manage 10+ employees
· 5+ years in engineering experience preferred
· Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering preferred)
· CAD and PDM software experience/knowledge preferred
· Experience with budget management
· Project management software
· Microsoft Office Suite
· Passionate Mountain Biker

Compensation Range:
$105,000-135,000, depending on experience.
