Good Wolf Gear: Store Manager (Full-Time)
We’re on the prowl for a Full-Time Store Manager to join our Pack!
Good Wolf Gear is a local outdoor retailer that specializes in buying and selling new and used outdoor gear and apparel. Our goal is to keep gear in use and out of landfills.
As a growing small business, we prioritize a fun and welcoming work environment with a start-up-minded approach to solutions. We seek a positive and energetic Store Manager with an entrepreneurial spirit who will work closely with the leadership team to strategically expand our brand and mission. Our Store Manager will run daily store operations, build meaningful relationships with our community and customers, and develop and empower our staff with empathy and enthusiasm.
Our Ideal Candidate
You have 2+ years of direct retail management experience
You have a strong commitment to creating a welcoming environment, building a local outdoor community, and promoting sustainability
You have recreational experience in a variety of outdoor activities, such as backpacking, climbing, or hiking
You have specialized knowledge of outdoor brands and products
You have experience following or developing exceptional customer service practices
You have experience developing processes for staff development, implementing staff reviews, and providing tactful critical feedback
You have demonstrated success driving new customer acquisitions and revenue growth using retail metrics
You are open-minded and willing to learn
You are a clear and patient communicator
You thrive in a team-based environment
You are generous with fist bumps, high fives, and words of encouragement
Operational Details
You report to and collaborate with our Co-Owners and are supported by 1-2 keyholder Assistant Managers
This position offers a five-day work week with two consecutive days off; weekends are expected
Your Typical Day
Warmly welcome all customers, visitors, and pets to our small business
Manage scheduling and logistics for daily operations, promotions, and events
Recruit, train, coach, motivate, and celebrate Associates and Assistant Managers
Partner with leadership team to design and implement strategies for revenue growth and inventory goals
Lead team to meet goals for sales and service
Maintain a strong and enthusiastic floor presence, including used gear intake, checkout, designing displays, assisting customers, and supporting staff
Guide team to execute strategic and appealing merchandising and store layouts
Thoroughly evaluate and moderately clean used gear drop-offs (inflate sleeping pads, set up tents, scrub shoes, wipe stoves and backpacks, etc.)
Work with team to ensure consistency of used inventory quality and pricing
Maintain a clean and organized store, to include the bathroom, breakroom, and storage
This is a physically demanding job and requires you to stand and walk for extended periods of time; climb stairs and ladders; and lift heavy boxes
Pay & Perks
Salary range is $40-55,000
