Front Desk Manager
Alaska Rock Gym, Anchorage

Role Description
The Front Desk Manager oversees the daily operations of the gym. This is both a Customer Service job as well as Sales. Finding balance is crucial to support the needs of the business in addition to maintaining ARG’s welcoming and community-focused atmosphere.

• Managing a team of 10-15 staff for the Front Desk will be the primary part of this job. The FDM will hire, train employees, manage the weekly and monthly Front Desk staffing schedule, monitor that daily tasks are being completed all while keeping risk management at the foresight of each project or process. Making sure the desk employees have all the resources they need whether it be tangible supplies, continuing education for their job, or protocols for new processes will be managed by the FDM with support from the Business Administrator.
• The Front Desk Manager will be the first point person for customer queries. They will manage membership changes and any conflict that may escalate beyond the Front Desk in a timely and professional manner. The role will enforce ARG policies and problem solve to find the best outcome for both the customer and the business.
• You will be viewed as the bridge for communication between the consumers and decisions made by the management team. Being proactive and approaching any situation with a problem-solving mentality will allow for success in this role.

Preferred skills and job expectations

• 2+ years of previous management experience
• 3+ years of consistent climbing experience (bouldering, outside, inside, sport, trad, etc.). The more diverse the climbing background, the better
• Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Conflict Management is something that you must be comfortable with
• Must be available to work weekends and evenings and be regularly present in the gym
• Ability to work well with a team and be able to welcome new ideas
• Must thrive in a high volume, fast paced environment
• Is highly organized and able to keep to a schedule and timeline
• Strong ability to learn new softwares and analyze data
• Previous Rock Gym Pro experience is preferred

We opened in Anchorage, AK on Fairbanks Street in 1995. Our small gym was your classic dirtbag hangout with sendy vibes and misfit attitudes. It was truly a place for our small Anchorage community to gather and find community.
